Chas is trying out Lacrosse

it's been awhile since i've posted, i know. let me share what we've been doing...

chas is trying his hand at lacrosse these days. we have a good friend that started a boys team (8 to 11) here in alameda about two months ago. this is the first season so it's pretty laid back -- which is working out great for us. they ended up having a lot more interest than they expected so they are trying to have the boys play divided into a younger group and an older group. this also works great for us cause some of those 11 year old boys are HUGE! and aggressive on the field. chas is enjoying learning the sport. it's way different than anything else he's done before...more physical contact for sure. he likes that part, of course.

here he is before the first game...

and here he is suited up to play...

he's the dot in black on the field...he did get to make a goal in his first (and only one so far) game, but i couldn't really tell it was him cause the boys didn't have numbers on their jerseys yet and they were such a huddled mess by the goal. they are all still learning the game so sometimes it's more comical than anything, but they are doing really great for just starting...

the other great part about this adventure is that our coaches -- all three of them -- are NICE! no yellers, no critical comments...it's so refreshing to feel comfortable about the way my kid is being taught...

pretty cool, huh? who'd have thought we'd be trying out lacrosse? it's amazing all the things my kids do that i never tried. i love how willing they all are to try new things. they are amazing!
