the end of an era

we'll call it the "blue couch era".
we bought this beauty from a DI (mormon version of goodwill) for $40 at the same time we bought our first home. it's huge and has withstood the roughest of rough housing as we established absolutely no rules with this couch when we bought it. cause for $40 we didn't care if our kids jumped on it. so they did. a lot. everyday. all the time.
they learned how to flip on it, off it, and over it. they learned how to jump on it, off it and over it. they stacked the cushions and jumped onto and off of them as well. they flew on it, off it, and over it.

and, of course, they used it as an indoor trampoline...hence, the giant hole that developed over the last year or two. in the end, even the cardboard we put over it wasn't doing the job and the smell from the arm rests and the inside of the couch (what with the giant hole there we had NO idea what kinds of things were lurking below creating all manner of grossness) couldn't be ignored anymore.

so we put it out on the curb and said our goodbyes.
had a good cry...
a last jump...
and took a last picture...

goodbye blue couch.
we have loved and appreciated all you've given us.
most especially all the memories.
