mission complete

the san rafael mission that is.

we finished the mission project last week. phew! chas' first real long-term project. he did a great job and even so...it nearly killed me. probably because i am so pregnant and tired, but also because we had to work super long and hard together to write and re-write and re-write again. and then again one more time. writing is difficult. teaching someone how to write well is even more difficult. and teaching someone how to write well when i only write so-so is the most difficult of the three. even so...i was so proud of chas' work ethic. he definitely procrastinated in the beginning -- a typical problem for young people still trying to develop time management skills -- but once he realized the amount of work he had to do in the time left to do it he put the pedal to the metal and pushed through. mostly i was grateful for his willingness to keep re-writing.

these are some of the pictures that he took when we visited Mission San Rafael. again, he did a great job listening to devan's advice on how to take photos that really turned out well and were "project worthy." i hope he gets a good grade cause we both deserve it ;)



ps...dad, you definitely got to me. in the end i compromised between what you and mom were saying. i went through and re-sized all the paragraphs. i didn't bullet as there wasn't time, but i did make sure nothing was under 30 point font on each slide. it added to the total number of slides, but looked better for sure. i love that i can still count on you both for project advice :) i feel bad for people whose parents aren't teachers. what do they do?
