this was chas' first year going to Fun Camp with his great grandpa Stapley (Devan's mother's dad). he's been doing this for years now and it has turned into both a tradition and a rite of passage in our family. it's a great opportunity for all the boys (between 8 and 13ish) to get together and be boys. grandpa stapley is a very active older gentleman that has been incredibly generous with all the boys over the years. they love him cause he's fun and yet...he doesn't put up with any crap so it's a great chance for the boys to learn responsibility and respect for elders, etc. :)
each boy gets to pick a new tree to plant during their first year at fun camp. these pictures mark the moment of planting the new tree and hanging the sign with chas' name on it. at this point there is a long line of boys that have come through Fun Camp and planted a tree. what a great legacy to be planting. here's hoping grandpa will still have the energy to do it for a few more years!
