creative little sister

one of the tricky things about having a newborn and a two year old is figuring out how to nap the two year old when the baby needs to eat. this wasn't a problem in the past because the other kids took naps alone in their own beds. but ike and i have gotten into the habit of napping together over the last year in my bed. basically this has translated into a lot more work for me if i want him to nap alone in his bed nowadays.

ho hum. wish i had thought of that before, except not really. i absolutely love napping with ike. he holds my hand and often scoots right close to me and it's so wonderfully fulfilling as a mom. plus, we read books and laugh and sing together. so even now with the naplessness that is occurring i still wouldn't have changed the last year with him.

bit i digress. the point is this...on this day during the supposed nap time avery and isaac were downstairs watching tv while i was nursing june upstairs. when i finally came down i found this:

isn't this awesome? avery made him a comfortable seat in which to watch the movie. it was apparently so comfortable that he promptly fell asleep in it.

thank goodness for avery. she's such a great sister...and a GREAT helper! moments like these help me to remember how indispensable girls are, especially our little miss a. avery is a natural at mothering. i can't wait to see her with her own kids in the (way) future. i sure hope these boys always appreciate all she does for them! i know i appreciate it :).

Brilliant like her mommy! Question: Does your two year old still go to bed at night after he has had a nap? Or does he stay up until 10?

Very cute. That does look mighty comfy. And I know what you mean about napping with the kids. I've been laying down with Zion for the last few months, and it is my favorite time of the day to share that with her.
